The St. Paul Optimist Club has two scholarship opportunities for an Essay Contest and an Oratorical Contest. Each of the contest contain a local club contest with CASH. The two contests are this February and March, and open to students under 18! The February 19th Essay Contest deadline  with a chance to win $150 is coming up fast!

The mission of optimism from Helen Keller

 Helen Keller was quoted as saying "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."
Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local Clubs whose Members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves.  Optimists provide service in their communitites while living by the tenets of the Optimist Creed. 

Oratorical Contest Is Growing

Since its start in 1928, the Optimist Oratorical Contest  has become the longest-running program sponsored by Optimist International. The contest is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking and provide them with the opportunity to compete for a college scholarship.
There are now four exciting levels of participation:
Optimist Club Competition: Each Optimist Club may sponsor a local club contest. Local winners may compete in an Optimist Zone contest based on number of participants. Winnders advance to the District Contest
