Optimist Club Sock Drive

The Optimist Club of St. Paul sponsored a winter Sock Drive to help homeless kids in St. Paul with Safe Zone! This event was done in partnership with Twin Cities Public Television as part of their Second Saturdays event.  The club worked with TPT  to host an event that included sock collection.

Holiday Food Shelf Drives a Success

Over the course of the Holidays, separate holiday events included the collection of food for two separate needs in the local community.
There are over 2000 kids in St. Paul who are homeless or going "couch to couch", food that is easy to carry, microwave, or open without a full kitchen went to Safe Zone to help kids in need. Over 20 bags of groceries were donated!
For stock pantry items and canned goods, the club collected over 375 pounds of food for the food shelf at The Neighborhood House, one of the largest food shelves serving the St. Paul community.

Full speed ahead is the motto for these resilient winners

One was left without a father or a mother by the age of 9. Another managed to juggle college-prep courses while suffering from a serious affliction. A third escaped civil war and smuggled medicine for sick refugees. A fourth scrappy overachiever understands his self-worth and goals easily trump the negative impact of the stares, finger-pointing and taunts that he knows may follow him throughout his life.
